This last two weeks has had us involved in ponds, so you can imagine how glad we all are that the weather has warmed up. What can be a miserable job when it’s freezing cold turns into a lovely job when the sun is out.
The larger of the pond jobs required a liner to be installed in two pools and a stream that runs between them. To cover this area with no joints requires quite a large liner to start with which is then then trimmed down to the required size. The problem this brings is the liner covers everything near the pond you are working on, even large bushes that are close to the edge as you can see from the mound in the picture below.
The finished Stream looked like this.
The second job was preparing a pond for fish that previously had been kept chlorinated to keep the water clear. This means adding chemicals that neutralise the chlorine then checking all the filters and ensuring the water is fish friendly. Then it was just a case of introducing the fish to the water and the joy of watching them swim about exploring their new home. Very satisfying work.
