After a tough week, including more madness from BT (cutting off the phone entirely, cutting off my home broadband just for fun, telling us we cannot keep our old number after 2 months of saying we can….) we think we are pretty much settled in the new office. The teething problems include the wasps nest in the highest part of the barn, the bat, the on-going saga of the patchy mobile signal, and the heating going from not working at all to volcanic.
Looks like we will, contrary to our previous notices, have to change the phone number. Please note the new one: 01494 818991. The second line will be in tomorrow so bear with us if you are struggling to get through.
Otherwise lots of exciting projects to work on, a redesign for a lovely converted school in Beaconsfield (welcome!), and a new client in Woodhill where we have one build drawing to a close and another about to start, completing a rooftop infinity pool in Holland Park and starting on the gardens for a lovely Alan Higgs Architects designed house in Hampstead.
I hope all of you with children at school have managed to brave the mountain of labelling and admin that goes with getting them back. I for one am mighty relieved!
The good news….Its sunny and Carls New lawncare blog is up on his page- do have a look
The less good news…Just when you think there are no more ways that BT can make our lives a misery they manage to do it. Carolyn spent a record 1 hour and 40 mins on the phone to BT yesterday evening attmpting to comprehend their latest madness, it still isn’t sorted and we are losing the will to live. It is a miracle that anyone in this country has progressed beyond carrier pigeons given BT’s rapid unwillingness to do anything remotely approaching what we asked for and are paying for. Offcom complaints here we come!

No we really are moving this weekend! Carolyn has spent a total of 15 hours on the phone to BT and admirably has not yet gone completely mad although they do try the patience of a saint. I have to vote BT the worlds WORST customer service organisation, and if they had no monopoly they would certainly be bankrupt. The comedy sketch of haing lost our order (twice), found it, delayed it, done the wrong thing, not activated the line, cut off the other phones etc goes on and is compounded by the fact that in the absence of a landline there is no communication with people trying to do networking at the office as there is currently no mobile signal there (although we are working on that too). As we speak Carolyn has been on hold for 13 minutes whilst someone from BT (who is denying that any of this is happening at all) contacts their own business department to confirm that it is. Carolyn may explode soon.
Anyway- we should be in within days albeit with Carolyn requiring hospitalisation. Lucs new work blog is up- just click on his page. Happy August all.
We are delighted to say that we have just taken on a lovely new office- nearby in Penn. The space is inspiring as a design studio as you can see from the photos, and will make it easier to welcome visitors to the office to meet us and view samples.
We are currently wrestling with BT to get the phone lines sorted and will physically move in the next week or so. Mail and numbers stay the same until then- watch this space!
